Confirm Pregnancies Fast!

Pregnostx on-site pregnancy tests are approved for use on cattle, goats and sheep – delivering accurate results in just 30 minutes or less.
Perfect for making quick, effective on-farm management decisions!
Keep tests on hand for use at any given time with up to 2 years expiry.
So the next time you need to know if an animal is pregnant, don’t wait. Check the Pregnostx!
The Pregnostx® rapid pregnancy test is a lateral flow assay for the detection of Pregnancy Specific Protein B (PSPB) in the whole blood (EDTA), plasma (EDTA) or serum of ruminant animals. PSPB is produced by the placenta of ruminant animals and can be detected in the maternal blood stream.
As a result, PSPB can be used as an indicator of pregnancy.

How early in a pregnancy can animals be tested?

COWS - 28 days post breeding & 73 days post calving
Lactating cows have residual PSPB from the previous pregnancy until 73 days after calving. To eliminate the risk
of a false-positive result, breeders are cautioned to take the sample at 28 days or more after breeding, and 73 days
or more after calving.
HEIFERS - 25 days post breeding
SHEEP & GOATS - 30 days post breeding
What is the accuracy?

The test is 99.9% accurate at determining non pregnant animals.
The false-pregnant (false-positive) rate for the test is approximately 5 percent. It is presumed that a portion of this variance is due to higher early embryonic death, and not to test inaccuracy.
Inaccuracies can also occur because of mislabeling of samples or cross contamination of one sample with another. A new needle and tube must be used for each animal.
How long does it take to see the results?
Results can be read on the test 30 minutes after running the tests.
In some cases, a control line and test line will appear prior to the 30 minute read time. This result indicates the presence of PSPB and can be used for a categorization of pregnant. For an open categorization, the Pregnostx should be read at 30 minutes to confirm the presence of a control line and absence of a test line.
How do we get the blood for testing?
Producers need to draw blood samples from the tail
vein, which is an easy-to-learn procedure.
Blood samples of at least 2 mL per animal should be
collected in individual vacuum tubes and labeled with
each animal’s identification number and sample number.
It is important to draw samples using individual,
disposable needles, to avoid cross-contamination
between animals.

STORAGE
Pregnostx® devices should be stored 2-30ËšC. All materials and samples should be 15-30°C before running the test. Whole blood should be stored at 2-8°C but should not be stored for more than 24 hours before testing.
